Join BAE Systems and you could be working within a team of like-minded Aircrew delivering live and synthetic training on platforms ranging from PC-21 to F-35B, or you could be utilising your skills and expertise advising and guiding our customers, industry partners and engineering colleagues on product and capability improvements, technology exploitation and operational delivery.
You will have the opportunity to influence and shape the future of Defence capability, training delivery and the design of products and services. In short, you will be able to exploit those hard-earned skills and breadth of military experience in a positive and often unique way, making your job satisfying and rewarding.
Some of our roles include:
F-35B Lightning Contractor Instructor Pilots (CIP) – UK. This a ground-based role at the brand new Lightning Force Integrated Training Centre at RAF Marham. CIPs deliver the full spectrum of training to OCU trainees and operational pilots, including the provision of high quality ground-school training in accordance with the Lightning Force syllabi and acting as primary or secondary Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for technical systems. CIPs also provide training support and instruction to F-35B Lightning squadron pilots using the F-35B full mission simulator and deployable mission rehearsal trainer. You will become familiar with front line Lightning tactics and doctrine, and you will be able to offer expert advice in order to help develop and evolve training syllabi, mission scenarios and tactics to meet UK sovereign requirements for the Lightning weapon system. You will need to be prepared to deploy to support UK and overseas training and operations, providing your instructional expertise at the point of need.
Test Pilots – UK. Our Test Aircrew are involved at all levels of our current and future platforms from concept, design and production through to capability development and operational test.  We’re currently looking for Class A TPs, Class B TPs and Evaluator Aircrew with qualifications from a recognised test pilot school and recent fighter experience that are interested in joining our team.  You’ll have an extensive background as a pilot and test professional in fighter operations with recent operational, flight test and supervisory experience relevant to our platforms and regulatory environment along with proven capability to operate effectively at all levels of a test team.  You must have or be able to hold a UK security clearance relevant to your role.
Typhoon Contractor Qualified Flying Instructors (C-QFI) and Simulator Instructor Pilot – UK. We have a large team of Typhoon aircrew experts delivering training directly to the RAF both on the ground and in the air. The teams at the Typhoon Training Facilities at RAF Coningsby and RAF Lossiemouth provide training to support 29 Squadron OCU and help maintain the capability of the pilots of all of the RAF’s operational Typhoon squadrons. You will deliver technical presentations to OCU trainees and provide one-on-one instruction using full mission simulators in both singleton and multi-ship scenarios, including networked training between the two operating bases.
Aircrew Advisors – UK and Overseas. The broad range of highly technical products and services we provide means that our customers need expert advice on how to get the most out of them. Our Aircrew Advisors provide customer-facing advice and guidance on all aspects from requirement capture, product design, training and operational use. Aircrew Advisors can operate across several projects at one time, providing support to sales campaigns and utilising their previous platform knowledge and communication skills to enhance the outcomes of product entry into service and service delivery.
Instructor Pilots and Instructor WSOs – Middle East. We have a significant cadre of flying and simulator instructors based in the Middle East supporting the delivery of training on SR-22 Cirrus, PC-21, Hawk, Tornado and Typhoon. Our experienced pilot and WSO’s deliver training directly to the customer, at various locations and under differing contracts.
Aircrew Training Specialists and Training Delivery Managers – UK and Overseas. Our programmes need individuals with strong leadership, business acumen and management skills combined with relevant professional military aviation expertise to ensure that our services, products and support are relevant, high quality and reliable. Roles vary in scope and location and cover Hawk, Typhoon, Lightning and Tempest. Individuals with previous training delivery and design experience provide unique insight into the design of modern training systems. If you want to influence the future and provide our customers with access to cutting-edge technology, and provide them with the skills to exploit it, then we may have the perfect role for you. VR, AR, AI and advanced synthetic training device capabilities are rapidly re-shaping and disrupting the way aircrew are trained and how platforms and associated systems are operated.
