Virgin Atlantic

In a nutshell:

As Vice President of Safety, Security and Compliance, you will spearhead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Safety, Security and Compliance framework.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Phil Maher, you will take ownership of the functional vision and strategy, ensuring delivery against all company objectives, including the compliance and efficacy of a robust Safety Management System and Security Management System that protects Virgin Atlantic’s corporate assets, aircraft, people and systems. This is a Senior Leadership role within the organisation, with oversight of worldwide Regulatory Affairs, for which you will leverage relationships with DfT, CAA, EASA, FAA and beyond.

Day to day:

You will lead and motivate Safety, Security, Compliance and Medical Services teams to achieve the highest standards of performance, personal achievement and capability, while providing a broad leadership perspective and input to the Operations Leadership Team contributing to the strategic development and delivery of business-wide operations.

You will develop and drive the long-term strategy to deliver the highest levels of Safety, Security and Compliance ensuring continued regulatory approval and ongoing operation of Virgin Atlantic Airways and Virgin Atlantic International Limited; including consultation and negotiation with recognised unions.

This will be a fast paced dynamic role that will constantly evolve.

About you:

We are looking for an outstanding leader with strong people and team management skills to take on this pivotal Operations role at Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays. You’ll have a proven track record of delivery at a senior (executive) level in an operational and people based role. With excellent commercial skills and a strong awareness of the airline industry in order to set clear strategic direction and then deliver against the plans you’ve set through your team. Though this role is key in leading the Safety and Security strategy it is not essential to have extensive experience but more to have a broad understanding of these areas.

You will have the ability to communicate and network with a variety of bodies and functions. You will be highly credible and used to operating within a high-profile environment.

Extensive cross-functional experience at a prestigious airline within a highly accountable role is essential.
We are seeking a dynamic commercially astute generalist with knowledge of all operational airline functions and an understanding of how these impact Safety, Security and Compliance. It is more important to have a broad understanding of airline operations rather than working knowledge of Safety and Security.
