Where do you land?

As a new KLM pilot you start as a second officer on one of our wide body aircraft.
During your career you have the opportunity to fly bothshort and long distances. This is stipulated in the Collective Agreement’s Airplane Flight Career Scheme.KLM Flight Operations also offers you the opportunity to be active alongside flying as a Second Officer, for example as an instructor, in our office organisation or to participate in our talent management program.

KLM is looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:

General:

  • Minimum degree in the package of English, mathematics and physics or equivalence in the case of a foreign course.
  • European passport.
  • Length between 1.58 and 2.03 meters. There is no leg length measurement.
  • Good knowledge of the Dutch language. If you are not Dutch-speaking, you must take an exam at European Reference
  • Framework B2 level prior to the selection procedure.
  • Trained in UPRT (Upset Prevention RecoveryTraining).

Certificates:

  • Valid Type Rating of a Multi-Pilot Aircraft.
  • Class I medical*.
  • (Frozen) ATPL*.
  • LPE6.
  • Radiotelephony (RT) privilege.
  • Rounded Multi Crew Course

*Both Medical and Flight Crew License must be issued orconverted in the Netherlands for any assumption.

Experience:

  • Preferably graduated from one of the following flight training courses: KFA, NLS, CAE, EPST, Martinair Flight Academy or in possession of a Large Military Certificate of the Royal Air Force/Navy.
  • In addition, at least 500 hours of experience on aheavy twin fixed wing (5,700 kg or more).
  • A minimum of 150 hours of this has been flown incommercial aviation in the 12 months prior to this application.

The salary is fixed in the collective agreement. Theamount of the salary is determined by your age, the period you are employed and your exact position. A starter’s salary is between 2,400 and 5,500 euros gross per month, excluding emoluments and pension allowances.
