We’re currently seeking First Officers for our Embraer 190 and Airbus A320 fleet, stationed at bases in ARN, BGO, CPH, and OSL. Start your career at SAS:

As a new pilot, you’ll commence your journey on some of the industry’s newest and most modern aircraft, the Airbus A320 or Embraer 190. You’ll face the exhilarating challenge of operating in some of the world’s busiest airports one day and at remote airfields with rapidly changing weather conditions the next.

SAS provides a solid foundation for your professional growth and development. With experience and dedication, you can e.g. progress to flying the A350 on international routes or work towards becoming a Captain on the EMB190, assuming greater responsibilities and leading your own crew.


Minimum Requirements:

In addition to excellent piloting skills, you possess strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to cooperate effectively with a wide range of colleagues. You are resilient, manage stress well, and consistently ensure that our customers have a safe and enjoyable flight.

  • Applicants need an EASA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (A), Commercial Pilot Licence (A), or Multi Crew Pilot License. Non-Scandinavian EASA licenses are accepted but must be converted before the course starts.
  • Instrument Rating
  • EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Completed Advanced UPRT course
  • English Language Proficiency Level 5 or higher
  • Right to live and work in the EU
  • Clean criminal record

Our Recruitment process

Selected candidates will be invited to an online assessment, designed to help us understand your skills and potential.
If successful, candidates are invited to join us for a physical assessment day. This day is an opportunity for us to get to know you better through various activities, including a group task, a one-hour personal interview, and a simulator assessment. During the simulator assessment, you’ll spend 45 minutes as Pilot Monitoring (PM) and 45 minutes as Pilot Flying (PF).


FAQ:

Do I need to cover the costs of transportation to the assessment?
Yes, you are responsible for arranging and covering the expenses for your transportation and accommodation.

If I am successful, when will I start my training?
Successful candidates will be offered a start date as soon as possible. Training courses are scheduled for winter and spring 2025, as well as late summer 2025.

Medical
Medical should be valid for at least 3 months at the time of entering employment.


Working at SAS

Will I have a Training Bond?
SAS covers all necessary training costs after employment. Pilots are required to commit to a training bond if their employment is terminated within 36 months. The terms are as follows:

  1. Full Type Rating: Pilots receiving a full type rating are subject to a 36-month training bond of 250,000 DKK/SEK/NOK.
  2. Renewed Type Ratings: Pilots receiving a renewed type rating within a 36-month period are subject to a 24-month training bond of 100,000 DKK/SEK/NOK.

How many days of vacation do I have?
You are entitled to 42 days of vacation per year.
Summer Vacation: The summer vacation is in a rotated system: you will get 3 weeks during the summer months

Roster
SAS operates with two rostering systems: Variable Group and Fixed Group. All new hires are initially placed in the Variable Group.
The Variable Group provides a minimum of 11 days off per month, with the flexibility to influence your free weekends and two additional free days through our bidding system.

Per Diem
SAS provides a daily allowance to flight crew to cover expenses incurred while on duty or during training. The allowance amount depends on the length of your workday and the currency of the countries you are flying to.
