Description:

We love what we do. Our charity is a place where people care for each other, provide support and encourage everyone to be their best and we pride ourselves on being one of the UK’s leading air ambulance charities. As an innovative charity, we are continually developing our organisation and pushing the boundaries of patient care to deliver a unique emergency service, where and when it is most needed. We are driven to do the right thing for our patients, their families, our supporters and community. All our staff live our values: passion, excellence, respect and care.

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our Operations Team in a new post as Chief Pilot (CP). The role is an exciting opportunity to be part of achieving our own AOC and will supervise the daily flight operations to safely conduct HEMS operations, plan and coordinate aircrew training with our selected ATO partner and other training providers for training and compliance items. The individual would implement our policies, manuals and approvals and maintain them on a daily basis to ensure that all pilots assigned to flight duties are correctly trained, qualified and approved for operational tasks and duties; the pilot roster would also be managed by the successful candidate. In addition to the evaluation of pilot qualifications and performance for existing crews, the CP would be required to assist in the recruitment of new pilots.

As Chief Pilot, the successful candidate will report to the Head of Operational Delivery and the Accountable Manager (Chief Operating Officer) for their nominated person post as Flight Operations Manager.

The successful candidate will want to support the charity’s drive to maintain the CQC “outstanding” rating, through collaborative partnership working with external regulators and stakeholders and internal teams. This is an opportunity to lead our in-house pilots and ensure optimisation of front-line aviation tasking. The ability to communicate effectively with everyone involved is essential to the post.

Working for TVAA in the Operations division is a job like no other. With a wide range and variety of situations to be managed and a clear importance on visible leadership, this role is essential in strengthening the organisation’s operational capability and therefore our ability to help patients wherever and whenever they need it.
