Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Base Manager, the Apprentice Pilot will perform tasks related to aircraft loading and unloading, assist with shipping and receiving tasks, operate a variety of equipment including snow removal equipment and aircraft towing equipment as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform aircraft baggage and cargo loading and unloading functions as assigned
- Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers
- Assist flight crew with off-loads at various aircraft destinations as assigned.
- Assist with warehouse and shipping & receiving tasks as required
- Perform aircraft towing and ramp positioning of aircraft and ramp GSE as assigned
- Operate Forklift truck, snow removal equipment, aircraft de-icing equipment
- Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are adhered too
- Report defects found with allocated GSE or Ramp/Warehouse Supervisor
- Any other related duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Possess a minimum of commercial pilot’s license with a group 1 instrument rating
- 200 Total Time
- Group 1/3
- CPL
- Valid class “G” license
Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Proven mechanical abilities
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
Assets:
- Ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs; Repetitively
- Manual dexterity
- Weekend work is required
- Travel may be required
- May be exposed to loud noise, dust, fumes and oils
- Indoor and outdoor work is required
