The DCT Scholarship Program 2023

The DCT Scholarship is open to anyone with little or no flight experience and up to a maximum of 5 flight
hours logged

The aim of the DCT scholarship program is to assist the successful candidate, who might otherwise not have the necessary financial resources to achieve their licence.

The DCT scholarship covers all aspects of flight training up to licence issue for a candidate who is prepared to dedicate 12-18 months to gain a FATPL. The successful candidate will commence training on the 1st August 2023

Providing 227 hours of flight training, the DCT scholarship can take a candidate with little or no experience right up to completion of their pilots licence in 12-18 months.

The DCT scholarship is awarded entirely on merit as evidenced on the completed application form and as assessed by a selection committee appointed by Aviation South West.

Applications are welcome from candidates who have the right to live and work in the UK.

The candidate must make their own arrangements to attend an interview in person at Aviation South West- Exeter. Interviews commence 5th June 2023

Training will take place at Aviation South West based at Exeter International Airport (EGTE) UK and Aviation South West based at Malta International Airport (LMML).

All candidates should be aware that the scholarship only covers the cost of flight training and licence issue; no provision is made for transport, accommodation, subsistence etc.

This Scholarship Program will cover all aspects of training up to licence issue for a candidate who is prepared to dedicate themselves to a significant amount and level of study to obtain a Commercial Pilots Licence. The attached brochure is an outline of the course that you will be studying.

The Scholarship is awarded entirely on merit as evidenced on the completed application form and as assessed by a selection committee appointed by Aviation South West.

The course must commence on 1st August 2023 and be completed by March 2025

All candidates should be aware that if called to interview they must make their own arrangements to attend the interview in person at Aviation South West. Please note the Scholarship only covers the cost of flight training and licence issue, no provision is made for transport, accommodation, subsistence etc.

Terms & Conditions:

The aim of the Scholarship is to assist the successful individual, who might not otherwise have the necessary resources to achieve their Licence. The Scholarship covers only direct training and first attempt examination costs.
The cost of obtaining the Class 1 UK CAA and EASA Medical Certificate and any associated travel, subsistence and accommodation expenses are the responsibility of the Scholarship winner.

CRITERIA FOR SUCCESSFUL APPLICATIONS:

  1. Your ability to demonstrate a serious ambition and ability to pursue a career as a Commercial Pilot
  2. Your availability to undertake and complete the Scholarship in a timely manner
  3. Your education achievements, demonstrable knowledge and or experience in science, mathematics, or other aviation related subjects.
  4. You must be able to satisfy the relevant medical standard to enable issue of a Class 1 UK CAA and EASA Medical Certificate.
  5. You must be aged between 17 and 25 years old
  6. You must have the right to live and work in the UK

The successful candidate will be made a conditional offer which will be subject to confirmation once all the pre-requisite and contractual details have been acknowledged as satisfied. Regular assessments will be carried out throughout the program to ensure that the student is managing the course in a timely manner. Students that cannot maintain the level of study and commitment required will receive support. However, it cannot be under estimated the intense level required to become a Commercial Pilot and if it is deemed that the student is not able to commit to the studies then the Scholarship may be revoked.
