The opportunity

British Airways is recruiting Direct Entry Senior First Officers for permanent, full-time positions based at London Heathrow. Applicants must hold a current qualifying aircraft type rating and meet the experience requirements below. Long-haul suitability is assessed during selection, and a short-haul position may be offered depending on the assessment outcome.

Type rating and experience

  • Current qualifying type rating.
  • At least 3,000 relevant aircraft hours, excluding simulator time.
  • Relevant flying within the preceding 12 months.

Qualifying aircraft include CS-25-equivalent multi-pilot jets, or multi-pilot turboprops of at least 10 tonnes or more than 19 passenger seats.

Licence and medical requirements

  • UK Part-FCL ATPL(A), or the experience required for its issue.
  • UK CAA Class 1 medical valid for at least six months from joining.
  • ICAO English Level 6.

The current rating may be held on another licence, but applicants must retain their UK licence. Further passport, physical, swimming and uniform requirements apply.

Salary and benefits
