A Russian media outlet has reported that up to 20% of the SSJ100’s that are currently in service have been grounded after defects have been found on the stabliser.
There are currently 85 aircraft in service with Aeroflot (30) and Interjet (22) operating the majority. Interjet currently have half of their fleet grounded awaiting repairs.
The defects on all aircraft worldwide are anticipated to be remedied by the end of January 2017.
This is an unfortunate set-back for Sukhoi which is a division of the Russian Civil Aerospace Company. Sukhoi have secured a reasonable amount of domestic orders but are still yet to gain significant orders worldwide to successfully compete with Embraer and Bombardier.
