About us
We love what we do. Our Charity is a place where people care for each other, provide support and encourage everyone to be their best and we pride ourselves as being one of the UK’s leading Air Ambulance Charities. As an innovative Charity, we are continually developing our organisation and pushing the boundaries of patient care to deliver a unique emergency service, where and when it is most needed. We are driven to do the right thing for our patients, their families, our supporters and community. All our staff live our values: passion, excellence, respect and care.
As we approach the commencement of operations under our own AOC in Sept 2022, amongst our many plans, we are looking for an exceptional individual to join our Operations Team in a new post as Chief Pilot (CP). The role will start before the AOC transition and will enable the new CP, as part of the Air Operations management team, to help manage the transition and to be well established by the time operations commence. The role will be based at our site at RAF Benson and will include both flying duties (single-pilot HEMS operations on the EC135 helicopter) and office-based duties.
The role
The Chief Pilot will be responsible for leading and managing day-to-day flight operations to provide TVAA’s HEMS capability. The CP’s experience and personal qualities will be key to leading the pilots and supporting the clinical teams and ops support team to excel in their aviation duties. The individual will ensure that regulatory requirements, TVAA policies and procedures are complied with safely, efficiently and to an exceptional standard, resulting in the best possible contribution to patient care. The CP will be a key part of the AOC management team and will have a great opportunity to contribute to the development of TVAA’s aviation capability through the AOC transition and beyond.
About you
The successful candidate will want to be part of a multi-disciplinary team and support the Charity’s drive to maintain the CQC Outstanding rating, through collaborative partnership working with external regulators and stakeholders and internal teams. As CP, the successful candidate will report to the Asst. Director of Operations (Operational Delivery) and will work closely with the other key AOC roles. The ability to communicate effectively with everyone involved is essential to the post.
Working for TVAA in the Operations Division is a job like no other. With a wide range of situations to be managed and a clear importance on visible leadership, this role is essential in strengthening the organisation’s operational capability and therefore our ability to help patients wherever and whenever they need it.
If this role sounds like it’s for you, we would love you to apply.
