Who are FIJI Airways?

Fiji Airways is an airline based in Fiji. Fiji Airways is the flag carrier of Fiji and operates international services from its hubs in Fiji to 13 countries and 26 cities including but not limited to Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan.

Fiji Airways outlook:

The airline plans to replace its older Boeing 737s with Boeing’s new 737 MAX 8s, at a list price of about US$110 million each. Two of the new aircraft arrived in 2018, and the remainder in 2019.

The airline is also currently leasing two Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

The 737 MAX 8s are intended for Fiji Airways’ regional services to Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Kiribati, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu, while the Airbus A350-900s, A330-200s and A330-300s are intended for longer services such as the United States, Canada and Singapore.

Roster Patterns:

  • Roster Pattern: 20 days on and 10 days off (the 10th days are inclusive of travel (TVL) or commuting days.
  • Travel Ticket: Airline will pay return ticket to pilots while they are on their days off to travel to their nominated secondary base every month. Under staff travel, they also entitled to staff privileges for themselves and their dependents.

Leave:

  • 24 days annual leave
  • 12 days sick leave

Staff Travel:

  • Travel Ticket: Airline will pay return ticket to pilots while they are on their days off to travel to their nominated secondary base every month. Under staff travel, they also entitled to staff privileges for themselves and their dependents.
  • Baggage allowance: 60 kg (30+23additional+7carry on)

Benefits:

  • Pilots can stay in Fiji up to year based on their contract, they are not obliged to pay PAYE in Fiji. Fiji Airways pays withholding taxes for contract Pilots for working in Fiji.
  • Per Diem: based on the route flown
  • Overtime: Captain: hours over 70 hours per month, it’s approximated around USD $ 105 per hour (Note: an amount equal to 125% of your monthly base salary, divided by 70 hours, then multiplied by the number of flights flown more than 70 hours). First Officer:Overtime: hours over 70 hours per month, paid USD $ 105 per hour
  • Roster day off rate: an amount equal to one-hundred and twenty five percent (125%) of their monthly base salary divided by seventy (70) hours, and then multiplied by (i) 12 hours per duty day, and (ii) if such Duty includes a Layover, 12 hours per Layover Day.
  • Flight Duty Pay effective after 12 months of service: Flight Duty Pay shall be prorated on a minute-by-minute basis from the Sign on Time for a Flight Duty Period, or the time candidates report for a Flight Duty Period, whichever is later and shall continue until Sigh-off Time from such Flight Duty Period. The Flight Duty pay rate shall be USD 6.00 per hour.
  • Monthly Housing allowance from date of joining: $ USD 1364 (both ranks). The airline will provide a hotel for the first 14 days.
