Air France in talks with Alitalia to acquire carrier

Air France-KLM held discussions with Alitalia about acquiring the Italian flag carrier last week, according to the Financial Times. 

The article suggested that a joint bid with easyJet may have been proposed.

The article noted that the airline has been under government control since last year, and has been ‘trying to draw out potential buyers’.

The paper said Lufthansa and a private equity group called Cerberus Capital are the other likely contenders.
