Norwegian were founded in 1993, but only began operating as a low-cost carrier with bigger Boeing 787 aircraft in 2002. Today, they are one of the world’s fastest growing airlines. Back in 2012, they signed the largest aircraft order in Europe with more than 200 aircraft. Norwegian was named the Most Fuel-Efficient Airline on Transatlantic Routes by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) and was also named the World’s Best Low-Cost Long-Haul Airline by the renowned SkyTrax World Airline Awards in 2015 and 2016, and for the fourth consecutive year, named Europe’s Best Low-Cost Airline. In 2017, Norwegian won the Skytrax World’s Best Low-Cost, Long Haul Airline and Europe’s Best Low-Cost Airline, as well as the Irish Aviation Industry’s Outstanding Contribution to Aviation award and the Freddie Awards Airline Program of the Year, Europe and Africa.
