OAG have released their annual worldwide on time performance data and its good reading for some airlines. The annual report is widely regarded as the industries most comprehensive annual ranking for the worlds airlines.

Airlines are included in the tables provided OAG has monitored at least 80% of their flights in 2016. OAG monitor 54 million flights worldwide and the criteria for ‘on time’ is one that either departs or arrives within 15 minutes of its scheduled departure or arrival time.

Flybe is one of the biggest movers, climbing from 17th in 2015 to 6th in the world in 2016 and is the leading U.K. airline for punctuality.

The most punctual airline in the world based on this data is Hawaiian Airlines with almost 90% of their flights departing or arriving on time.

Completing the top five airlines in the world were Copa Airlines, KLM, Qantas Airlines and Japan Airlines.

Monarch Airlines takes the title for the worlds most punctual low cost airline, followed by GOL, Transavia, Jet2.com and Germanwings.

UK airports also did well with Newcastle topping the small airports category and was one of only three airports in the world to achieve 90% or more on time departures / arrivals.

Birmingham came top in the medium size airport category.

Airports that handle less than 2.5 million passengers a year not included in the data.
